// APPLY NOW // Applications close on Thursday the 11th of February 2021 //
Wassup wassup fam. I hope your February is going well so far. Today I'd like to share this amazing opportunity offered by Sunshine Cinema, Africa’s first solar-powered cinema network. They do not only capacitate youth from rural & peri-urban areas, but also take compelling and carefully curated content to a diverse array of communities across Southern Africa and beyond.
They are driven by a strong desire to create communal cinema experiences that act as a catalyst for dialogue, deep listening and ultimately positive social and environmental change. These screenings are facilitated by a team of experts and are designed to reach targeted audiences in a strategic way that helps identify shared problems and uncovers viable solutions to these challenges. With this being said, if you believe in the power of using media for social impact, then you should apply for the Sunbox Ambassadors Leanership program (SBAS), as soon as possible.
The selected Sunbox Ambassadors (SBAS) are trained in media facilitation, digital marketing, and host screenings of African films in their communities. SBAS attend a boot-camp where they are trained in basic photo, video production, and audience facilitation techniques. They are recruiting 20 South African Sunbox Ambassadors for a 9-month full-time learnership program starting in March 2021, in the following areas (NB: There will be 2 Ambassadors selected per area because they will share the Sunbox Equipment, candidates may apply as pairs but need to submit individual applications) : Northern Cape , Free State , North West , Gauteng (excluding Johannesburg) , Kwa-Zulu Natal (excluding Durban) , Mpumalanga , Limpopo , Eastern Cape , and Western Cape (excluding Cape Town).
Do check out the Sunshine Cinema 2020 Promo Video to get a visual insight on the work they do, as well as Sunbox Ambassador Impact reflections (they asked their first cohort of Sunbox Ambassadors from 2018-2020 what impact the experience had on their career development).
With only 20 available spaces, this is a competitive programme. This is also quite evident by the number of applications that they have already received. To date, they've already got over 800 applications fam, but that should not stop you from giving it a shot if you believe that you are the ideal candidate. Before you apply, you should ask yourself the following questions:
Can I be committed to 9 full months of the programme, with self-discipline to work at home?
Do I enjoy a good challenge and I'm ready for hard work?
Am I looking to learn new skill?
Am I able to make deadlines (missed deadlines will result in termination of the learnership)?
Am I able to access stable & reliable internet?
If you answered yes to all the questions above, then quickly proceed to email your proof of address, copy of valid South African ID and certified Matric qualification to firstname.lastname@example.org, and fill in the SBA 2021 Learnership Application Google Form which must be completed before 5pm on February 11th 2021. You can click here or on the image below for information on their site.
That's about from me today. All the best with your application, and if you know someone who would be ideal for this opportunity, please share this with them. Stay blessed and safe fam, and let's connect on Twitter/ Instagram @2tukani.
