// Kwena Peu & his band will present a poetry showcase that also features the internationally acclaimed poet, Kgafela Oa Magogodi on the 29th of June 2019 //
Wassup wassup fam. I hope that y'all are good, and keeping yourselves warm through the winter. If you're struggling to keep warm, don't worry too much because there's lot of blazing hot poetry coming up over the next few weeks, that's guaranteed to give you the heat that you desperately need. If you're already warmed up, then you probably have bought your tickets already. Any way, there's this poetry event that you can't afford to miss (even if you're not based in Bloem, it's worth travelling to the City of Roses for), and yeah I'm obviously referring to Kwena Peu's upcoming event "Poetry - Infinite Possibilities".
Loyal to experiments with the arts, Kwena Peu is a literary & performance poet, writer, voice-over artist, theatre practitioner and conceptualist. He's popularly known for his unconventional performance of his poetry pieces, which never fail to leave the audience satisfied for the time they have spent watching and listening to his work. Some may have had a glimpse of his craft at his debut theatre performance through Kamara, a dance production which played at the Performance Arts Centre of the Free State (PACOFS) in 2017, where he played a villain with a poetic twist. The production was later selected to compete at the 2018 Trade Fair Festival at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg, and returned to Bloemfontein with an award. I'm still trying to figure out how busy I must have been to miss his debut theatre performance, but anyway, gonna redeem myself by going to his next event. Kwena was also part of the much anticipated and well received theatre production by the highly acclaimed theatre organization called Vukallective, where he narrated the dance and drama fusion called "Thirst", which was part of the first All Stars Incubator Program which ran for five months at PACOFS from 2017-2018. He is currently a member of an alternative poetry band called Preformed Footsteps, which he is also the co-founder of.
On Saturday the 29th of June 2019, he’ll be performing with his band at the Andre Huguenot Theatre (PACOFS). This poetry showcase will feature the internationally acclaimed poet, Kgafela Oa Magogodi. Kwena Peu’s set will comprise of musical poetry with theatrical elements. Tickets can be purchased at the PACOFS booking office, and are going for only R80 per person (or R60 per person if you purchase in groups of 10). You can find more info and keep up with the updates about the event via the Facebook event page , and please don't be stingy with the Facebook invites - lol ; let's let the whole world know what's going down, but most importantly let's also purchase tickets. Oh yeah, and by the way, I know the poster says the event starts at 7.30pm, but please let's be there at 7pm, because I'm sure we've had enough of African time - #smh. I'm definitely gonna be there, and I know you don't want to have to deal with the FOMO fam, so let's go in our numbers and FILL UP that theatre - not just for the love of poetry, but for the love of great local poetry.
